It seems there is a relative scarcity of books on advanced problem solving. Most of the literature on this topic is either on more introductory problems or presents its material in much the same way that  Descartes criticises.  One would be inclined to think  that the latter are like foxes walking on snow but erasing their trails with their tails. Nikolaos defied the challenges and produced a book that  throws light  on the ideas and intricacies that lead to solutions for a variety of intriguing mathemati- cal problems. He draws his material mostly from challenging problems that have appeared in International Mathematical Competitions&#8230;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Part of Prof. Michael Lambrou\u2019s foreword.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026, the purpose of the book is to present  a plethora of problems from all areas of contest mathematics and to present not only their solutions but the thinking trails one could follow to reach them. There is a huge difference between the two approaches and the author strongly feels that  the second proves to be a lot more didactic than the first one.
